House Progress, Mostly, But A Cute Baby, Too

Now, let's see if I can get through this post before life interferes and leaves it stuck in draft status for two months. Bets, anyone?

I was also terrible about taking pictures for the entire month of July, I'm afraid, so we have the following relatively poor offering (still a ridiculously cute subject, however).

Evan and Cousin Rider, playing in the "toy pit" that our living room has become. Or, I should say, kitchen and dining room, because we are mere weeks away from moving into our actual living room (more on that later).

Look at this! The child has learned to play peekaboo! Along with learning how to open and close the pantry door, of course.

Playing with dry ice from a grocery trip:

Here are a few pictures of our trip to California, for Bryan and Amy's wedding, and extended to include a Weasie Week (thank you for including us!). These are literally all the pictures I managed to take, including none of the wedding. I'm hoping Grandma Jan comes through with a disk of the pictures from her camera. Hint, hint.

Evan's new "starship" floaty from Grandma-Auntie Martha, and hanging with the Stenbak girls:

Uncle John spearheaded a trip to the Santa Monica Beach (and pier). Good thing he did too - it was SO much fun!

Evan and Mama, playing in the waves:

Evan and Uncle John, also in those same waves:

Auntie Janine and Uncle Chris:

And sandy-handed Auntie Carolyn and Cousin Amelia:

The pier:

"Playing" piano with Cousin Rider:

Freshly showered boys (note the matching fuzzy heads):

EVERY kid has to have a picture in a box, right? Rite of passage, I'm thinking. Also a huge source of enjoyment, obviously!

Beautiful Auntie Kaycee and her nephews:

A little boy and his rocks:

Baby jail!

New swing... otherwise known as "The Only Reason Mama's Flowers Ever Get Watered."

And now, pictures of the amazing progress on the house. I just looked back through our older posts - it is just amazing how far we've come!! Hard to believe some days that we are now living in the upstairs, and are - hopefully - just weeks away from moving into the living room as well. Keep your fingers crossed that carpet order/install goes off without a hitch!.

Living room with finished walls, glass block installed in the half-bath wall (have I done a picture of the finished ceilings yet? If not, finished ceilings, too!), tile around the stove, and a cute baby.

Close-up of the tile around the door. And a cute baby.

Close-up of the glass block section. No cute baby, I'm afraid.

And new stairs with the angled landing, and liner board (or whatever you call it), ready for carpet! Cute baby toy. Or strange baby toy, you decide.

That little stair nook will be the eventual home of the roll-top desk, and the entire living room will be the eventual home of all the furniture we have stored in the shed, as well as much of the furniture from the kitchen/dining area. Do you think we're maybe just a little bit excited about that? More soon!

Random Photo Fun and a Trip to Missouri

Yeah, turns out this is a post from JUNE that I haven't yet gotten posted, and now I have another good long one to follow up with for July and August. Can you say "procrastinator?" It sounds better when you pronounce it with a silly French accent.

Whoo, it's been a while. We just got back from a trip to see Sean's family in Missouri, where the official photographers Brent and Dodie, got a bajillion adorable shots of Evan - have to share! First a few from closer to home...

Playing with his new favorite toy, the ribbon from Cousin Bryan and his fiancee Amy's wedding invitation (insert from August - we have now BEEN to the wedding and back - again, "procrastinator?"):

Snuggled into the end of his crib, little monkey!

The other new favorite toy, a mixing bowl:

Checking out the view from the plane window:
Nakey-time on Day 1 in Missouri - Evan's not used to weather so warm! And a backyard so inviting...
Evan got to meet Great-Grandpa Elmer:

And Great-Grandma Jean:

Four generations of Hormans:

A trip to a park, where they had a little water-park (Evan was NOT a fan of the shooting geysers of water, but I bet if we took him now, he would be!):

Gratuitous cute shots:

My new pool!

Talkin' 'bout the facts of life with Uncle Brent:

Snuggling with Oma Deborah (also chewing on stroller handles):

And with Auntie Dodie:

There may or may not have been a few late-night croquet shenanigans after baby went to bed!

Babies and Ceilings and Gardens, Oh My

We had a whirlwind morning a few days ago, trying to get the plastic liner in the new flower beds, so that I could shovel the dirt out of the trailer, so Sean could USE the trailer to pick up the wood for our new living room ceiling! Evan helped:

And here, drum roll please, is that new ceiling. Unfortunately, Kuderling girls, it DID cover up all that "extra" steel in the structure. Ha!

Also, check out the bare spot in the half-bath wall - that will eventually be a vertical line of glass block to let in the light from the only window on that wall. We're very excited about that! Thanks for the idea, Matt...

Can't resist a little garden shot - all my flowers are finally in. But... that plastic is there because we do still drop below freezing every night, so it may have been a bit premature. Oh, well. Also, please do not judge my gardening skills based on the appearance of the pots in front. They need a little TLC, and a little time not smushed under plastic (also, they are haphazardly stashed in front of the bed so I only have to do one plastic sheet!). Really probably better not judge my gardening skills based on the big bed, either, just yet. It needs a little time to, ahem, mature.
